Why Accurate Measurements Matter?
Since each Sheio lingerie piece is made-to-order, these measurements are essential to crafting a garment tailored specifically to your body. The more accurate the measurements, the better the fit, ensuring your custom lingerie feels as comfortable and supportive as possible.
By taking these precise measurements, you’re helping us create lingerie that perfectly reflects your body and your unique needs.
1) Bust Measurement (Over the Nipples)
Measure over the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape level around your body. Keep the tape level and snug but not too tight, and avoid compressing the bust to get an accurate measurement. Ensure that the tape isn't too tight by taking a deep breath in and out.
SHEIO TIP: For optimal accuracy, wear lingerie without padding. Use an unpadded bra or measure without a bra to get a true sense of your natural size. Stand upright and relaxed during the process to ensure the bra is tailored to fit you perfectly.
2) Underbust Measurement
Measure just beneath your breasts, around the ribcage, where the bottom band of your bra will sit. Keep the tape level and snug, ensuring it wraps evenly around your chest, but don't pull too tight—it should rest comfortably against your skin.
SHEIO TIP: Avoid standing in front of a mirror while measuring, as this can cause you to unconsciously adjust your posture by sucking in your stomach or straightening up too much. For the most accurate results, stand naturally and breathe normally.
3) Waist Measurement
Locate the narrowest part of your waist and wrap a flexible measuring tape around it, keeping the tape snug but not too tight. Don’t be misled by your belly button—it may not align with your true waistline.
SHEIO TIP: Place your hands on your hips. Where your thumb and index finger rest is likely where your natural waistline is. Alternatively, you can tie a thin string around your waist and measure the circumference at the spot where the string naturally sits.
4) Hips Measurements
Stand in front of a mirror with your feet together. Identify the widest part of your hips, typically around the fullest part of your buttocks. Wrap a flexible measuring tape around this area, ensuring it stays level and parallel to the floor. Keep the tape snug but not too tight. Once positioned correctly, record the measurement in inches or centimeters.
SHEIO TIP: For some people, the widest part of the hips may sit lower than expected, and that's perfectly normal. Just ensure you're measuring at the fullest point for the best fit.
